Amboja Herb Garden Yogyakarta Indonesia

Amboja Herb Garden is built in the 4.5 ha herbal plantation area. It is owned by CV. INDMIRA, a company in ecosystem and agriculture research. This restaurant is used as a place for people to have culinary tour. It is also used as a media to introduce Indonesian herbal plant to society.
The architect team of PT ARTERI KARYA NUSANTARA which is trusted to design this restaurant building makes oblique layout orientation and it flanks to frame the herbal plantation panorama which stretches like an archer's bow on its slope. It means that it is done to attrack visitors to walk to the plantation. Besides, although it has two floors, the height of the building is stretched, not soared up so that Merapi Mountain as the background also gives character to the building architecture of the restaurant.
The restaurant building has two main areas; the first is eating area which is in the same area with open kitchen where visitors can see the cooks cooking, and 2 floor eating area which maximizes the sight to the herbal plantation area and field which spreads around it. The main material of the building is bamboo, which is generally used as the base element of houses in village. The bamboos chosen are betung and apus bamboos which are cut on a certain month to maximize the durability. The construction is designed semi-stage in order to change the land contour and maximize the water absorption. Andesit and white stones are used to beautify the texture composition of the restaurant building.
The roof material is made of local material. Dried coconut leaf and coarse grass are plaited because it is difficult to find roof material which has a certain quality in the market. Therefore, it takes a long time to make the roof compared with the making of the main structure of the two floor building.

Totally, the architecture of this building has fusion taste. The base shape of the building is the village building, but it is combined with the modern architecture details which are simple in the interior preparation and tropical architecture by shading on the side stretching as a device to reduce heavy rain and wind in this area. With maximum lighting in the building and a path to the land, the mix of various architectural details gives conspicuous romantic character in this restaurant area. The sensation given is the best mix of texture and natural color of the material.
This fusion concept is also consistently created in the taste of the menu served inside. The kinds of food and drink offered by this restaurant are Indonesian food, but it is cooked, modified, and served creatively as in a modern restaurant. The main menu of this restaurant is Ayam Rempah Pedas (hot spices chicken), whose spices are developed from Balinese matah chili sauce. The other menu is Pepes Nasi Amboja which is the modification of Sundanese special food. Various menu of special drink is also available in this restaurant, such as Rosella ice and wedang secang which are good for health. Rice served in this restaurant is Rojolele rice, famous premium rice variety which produces delicious rice and it is planted organically. With those special qualities, do not think that this restaurant is just for high class people because the menu in Amboja Herb Garden Restaurant differs from Rp. 5.000,00 to Rp. 25.000,00.
